These old 16th century walls near Aigues-Mortes, between Nîmes and Montpellier, were once the home of the treasurer to king Louis XV, before belonging much later to Victor Hugo’s great granddaughter. She received Cocteau, Eluard and Eric Satie here, and the house has inherited her sense of hospitality.
